This will be the homepage for everything we study this year. I anticipate a great of year of learning with all of you.
Homework: A concerted effort is being made by all Grade 7 teachers to reduce the homework load and to give students as much in-class work time as possible to accomplish tasks and complete projects. That was, we are available to assist and guide you in your work. However, there will be times when homework will be necessary. Each class will have a shared google doc onto which both teachers and students will be able to post homework in addition to the homework board in Morah Ronneat's classroom. You will find links to the shared homework doc's here:
The blue colored column on the left hand side of this page is the table of contents for this wiki. Click on one of the titles and it will take you to that page of the wiki. Each title represents either a subject that we will be studying together this year or a page of resources that we will be using. Our subjects will include:
Laws & Customs: We will study texts from a variety of rabbinic sources related to the Jewish festivals. In many cases, these studies will be a continuation of of learning from Grade 6. For those of you that posted regularly on your blogs last year, you will be able to look back at them to remind yourselves of what we learned. Several pages of this wiki are dedicated to individual subjects in this larger area of study (God Talk, Judaism & Ecology, Kashrut, T'shuvah, Tz'daka).
Parasha Project: Morah Tiki and I will be guiding you through an individualized study of your Bar or Bat Mitzvah (or birthday) Torah portion. See the Humash Project page for more details.
Parashat HaShavu'a: Each week, we will explore a question or thought inspired by the weekly parasha. You will be posting responses on-line each week, as you did last year in Grade 6. See the Parashat HaShavu'ah Page for all the details.
Tikkun Olam: Your continued study in this subject area will be happening with me. We will be engaged in deep and busy study over the year, which will culminate in the MVP project. See the Tikkun Olam page for details.
Just like last year, I will have a page dedicated specifically to homework. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CHECK THAT PAGE DAILY. Most of the time, I will send out a wiki email to announce when work has been posted, but IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REMAIN UP TO DATE.
Wiki email:
At the top of the wikispaces page, there is an icon in the shape of an envelope. Clicking on that icon navigates you to your wiki email inbox. You are able to send and receive email from that page. If there is a number next to the envelope, that is an indication of how many messages you have in your box. You must check your inbox for messages and reminders from me if you have mail in that box. If you do not check the mail, you may miss important class-related information.
I look very forward to our year of learning together. See below for our topic schedule for the week.
